PART II – Get More Customers Using The Internet

by | OkLocal | 0 comments

In Part 1, of this series which you can read here (How To Get More Customers Online Part I), we discussed why being online is so important to the visibility and success of your business – Remember…  You don’t want to be your city’s best kept secret, that’s the fast track to business failure.

In today’s article we’re diving a lot deeper into the social platforms that have the most users, the most reach, and the most impact when it comes to your business success.

Sooooo…..

Let’s talk about Facebook & Instagram.

Facebook is for getting in front of your customers and starting a conversation. It’s a platform that thrives on engagement. The more you can get your customers to interact and engage the greater your reach will be and the more impact you’ll have. When throwing advertising dollars behind a campaign you want to focus on ads that are exciting for your customer, ads that build awareness of who you are, and and ads that re-target your customer leading to some kind of special offer that is going to make your customer smile.

On Facebook you may be talking to an audience who doesn’t know who you are. Maybe they’re not even looking for a new stylist at the moment. That’s okay. It’s a great way to get a jump on your competition and catch the attention of a possible new customer, BEFORE they’re fed up with where they currently buy, and out looking for you!

Instagram is similar to Facebook, but while Facebook is more video and text, Instagram is 100% more visual. Pictures thrive on Instagram.

Insta Stories are a great way to let your personality shine through, show your space and allow your followers to experience your brand (who you are) through short engaging video and posts!

There is now another option that Instagram has just rolled out called IGTV!

This is where you can create higher quality video up to 10 minutes and really educate your market on what makes you the best in town when it comes to the services that you offer.

We recommend creating great “how to” videos on this platform. Show your audience how to style hair. Record yourself cutting hair, mixing colour, or walk them through your consultation process- the sky’s the limit!

What’s the Deal With Google?

Google is for jumping out in front of customers who know they have a problem. These clients are looking for a solution right now. They are on the hunt for the right business to solve their problems.

Once your customer get’s to this point, you better be ready to snap them up. This is where what you say, and how you say it is key. We’ll talk a lot about why understanding your customers needs, pains and frustrations is how you’re going to set you apart from all the other noise trying to distract your customers.

Quick Fact: How many ads are your clients bombarded with everyday?

If you answered 1000, you would be wrong. It’s more like 5000 ads that are being shoved in your client’s face everyday. They’re being overwhelmed by ads and because of that they’re starting to ignore ads that they do see.

That’s why you want to grab their attention with something crazy and lead them to a solution that fixes their urgent problem. Speed is key, targeting is key, and your knowledge of your audience is what will set you apart.

Now here’s a critical step that almost every stylist misses.

You need to lead your customer to a solution that fixes their problem as soon as possible. You do this by sending them to a simple website or a page on your website that lets them know you understand what they’re looking for and how you can help them.

It’s when you point them in a direction that doesn’t line up with their problem that you lose them.

For example; say a client is looking for the best stylist to style hair for their wedding. They click on a post you created that says “We’re Wedding Experts”.

However this post leads them to the plain old boring homepage on your website…which doesn’t say anything about weddings and there’s nothing there that even suggests you’re an expert.

What do you think is going go happen? That customer is probably going to keep searching for the actual expert right? That’s how you lose your customer and waste your time, and possibly some money.

What do you think happens if your post sends them to a blog, or a page on your websites with more info about weddings, testimonials from brides, a gallery of wedding hair, and a video of you talking about the perfect wedding experience?

If you guessed that you’ve just burned an image of you, the wedding expert, into their mind, then you would be right.

Guess who they’re calling first?

YOU!
